Naturalist Walks

Yosemite hikers learn about Sierra birds and flowers with an expert guide on a Yosemite Conservancy Custom Adventure

For an insider’s perspective on Yosemite, take a walk with us. Conservancy naturalists know the park better than anyone. These walks are designed to cover a range of subjects, from native plants and wildlife, to the influence of heroes such as John Muir and the stories of Yosemite’s First People, to the park’s geology and natural history. We can cater to your group’s specific interests and needs, and our naturalist walks are done at a gentle pace into areas that are easily accessible by vehicle. To get farther out on the trail, check out our Explorer Day Hikes.

Full-day and half-day programs are available. Walks can take place among some of the most iconic places in Yosemite. Choose your location:

  • Yosemite Valley
  • Glacier Point
  • Tuolumne Meadows (June–October, dependent on Tioga Road opening/closing)

Each walk will feature information on:

  • Notable plants and wildlife in the area
  • Areas of natural and historic significance, such as areas of glacial activity or settlements of indigenous people
  • The stories of Yosemite’s people, from American Indians to pioneers, and even modern-day rock climbers
  • Photography opportunities for Yosemite’s many icons, including Half Dome, El Capitan or Yosemite Falls (depending on location choice)
