If your idea of the perfect winter retreat is to leave crowds and resorts behind and head into beautiful and isolated backcountry, retiring to a rustic ski hut at the end of the day, then Yosemite Conservancy and the National Park Service welcome you to Ostrander Ski Hut.
Historic Hut
This historic building is a charming two-story stone structure beautifully crafted in 1941 for cross-country skiers. The hut sits in a small glacial cirque at the edge of Ostrander Lake, elevation 8,500 feet.
Skiing
Ostrander Hut attracts backcountry skiers and snowboarders looking to ski the steep slopes in the cirque above Ostrander Lake. Along the way you enjoy stunning views, including Half Dome and the Clark Range.
The ski hut is approximately 10 miles from Badger Pass and all routes require considerable stamina and cross-country skiing experience. It is not recommended for novice skiers.
The hut is typically open from mid December until early April.
