"Moving from New York to California in 1953 we traveled through Yosemite along old Tioga road–little did we know that the park would become such a big part of our lives.

Much of our passion for the park was nurtured by our dear friend Shirley Sargent.  As a historian and writer who lived in Yosemite she had very deep roots here, and it was Shirley who first introduced us to the Mariposa County Community of Foresta—a community located inside the park.

In 1974 she told us of a cabin that had become available and we were fortunate enough to purchase it as our vacation house.  Today Yosemite is our second home. We see ourselves as both neighbors and caretakers of the park.

We support the Conservancy because it protects this extraordinary place.   We owe the park a debt of gratitude for all the enjoyment and beauty it has given us over the years.  This is our way to give back”
