Art in the form of paintings, poetry, and more allowed Yosemite to be shared with many in the 19th century and also helped ensure its’ early protection. This program will create an arts competition open to students from school districts located close to Yosemite National Park.
Partnering with the Ansel Adams Gallery and Yosemite Museum this competition will give students the opportunity to connect with the park through their own artistry. Culminating in awards and an exhibition, the program will bring together nearby communities to celebrate their children’s work and also the place that inspired it.
Educators, youth and families will establish this inaugural event as part of their annual calendar, helping build strong educational communities and links to their neighbor – Yosemite National Park.
