Many youth programs in the park are entry points to unique wilderness and educational experiences, but how do we then ensure these youth keep progressing? This program does just that, it offers alumni from WildLink youth programs a continuing course that includes an apprenticeship with Yosemite Institute Field Instructors. Participants are introduced to different park careers, and they also work on restoration field projects and complete a Wilderness patrol.
Past programs have been very successful with 17 teen alumni introduced to over 30 professions and over 50 professionals in Yosemite. Today two alumni are employed as interpretation rangers with the US Forest Service.
This program creates that vital next step – taking our youth from education to careers in Yosemite.
