Junior Ranger Program - 2014

Children and youth explore nature in Yosemite’s popular Junior Ranger Program.

Among Yosemite’s most popular interpretive programs, the Junior Ranger program encourages outdoor exploration, a love of national parks and a healthy lifestyle from an early age. In the past seven years, the number of kids participating in Junior Ranger programs has tripled. By participating in ranger-led nature walks and completing environmental-activity workbooks, kids can earn their one-of-a-kind wooden Junior Ranger badge.

The 2014 Junior Ranger program will include two new pilot programs: Yosemite Search and Rescue rangers and a special commemorative Junior Ranger patch to honor and celebrate Yosemite anniversaries.

Thanks to your continued support, more children are benefitting from an expanded array of ranger-led programs that help them learn about and connect with the outdoors and Yosemite.

Project Notes

My child became a Junior Ranger May 1. I was so happy, I cried! I think I’m going to do it on my next trip, since there are no age restrictions.
