Please note that while Yosemite remains open during the federal government shutdown, services and facilities are very limited, and certain areas of the park are closed. For more information, please refer to the National Park Service and the Department of the Interior: visit www.nps.gov/yose and www.doi.gov/shutdown.

As the impact of the government shutdown continues to be felt, Yosemite Conservancy remains committed to supporting Yosemite National Park.

Charitable Distributions from your IRA

Gifts to Yosemite Conservancy support vital projects and programs that enrich the visitor experience

Charitable Distributions from your IRA

Did you know that individuals who are at least 70½ years of age are able to make gifts directly from their IRA? This transfer will count towards your required minimum distribution and is excluded from your taxable income.  It is also a great way to support Yosemite Conservancy and our mission to preserve Yosemite and enrich the visitor experience.

What You Need to Know:

  • Gifts of up to $100,000 — from either traditional IRAs or Roth IRAs — are excluded from your taxable income and can be used to satisfy your required minimum distribution.
  • The transfer must be made through your IRA account directly to Yosemite Conservancy and must be for an outright gift.
  • There is no income tax deduction for the transfer — the amount is simply not included in your income.
  • For your convenience, this letter contains sample language you may use to request a gift transfer from your IRA.
