June brings bright colors and dynamic light to Yosemite Valley: Late-spring wildflowers bloom in the meadows, sunlight glints off the rippling Merced River, green leaves and vibrant bird feathers brighten tree branches. As spring transitions to summer, join professional artist Steve Curl to spend a long weekend capturing the park’s seasonal scenery in watercolor.

Over the course of three days, you’ll sharpen your artistic skills, as you practice creating a balanced composition, capturing shifting lights and shadows, and using layers of color to build a scene. You’ll end the weekend with a fresh perspective on Yosemite, fresh artwork to take home, and a new suite of tips and techniques to draw on as you continue exploring the world of watercolor.

Included with your registration:

  • Three-day immersive art workshop (Friday, June 14, morning, through Sunday, June 16, around 3 pm), with an optional introductory evening meeting on Thursday, June 13, at Happy Isles Art and Nature Center in Yosemite Valley at 5:30 pm.
  • Park entry (as needed).
  • Camping included, if needed; limited sites are shared among all the participants (reservation arrives Thursday, June 13, and departs Monday, June 17) at Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley. We cannot adjust these dates.
  • There is no discount if you choose not to use our gate pass or campsites.
  • Note: Information about upgrading your accommodations to stay at Curry Village will be emailed to you after you sign up. The option to upgrade expires 30 days before the program.
