Visitors learn expert camera techniques on a three-day spring photography workshop in Yosemite Valley.

Learn how to photograph Yosemite as the park bursts with spring life! Join professional photographers Dave Wyman and Ken Rockwell for an immersive three-day workshop, where you will see waterfalls at peak flow, dogwoods in full blossom and birds showing off their best colors. Meet fellow Yosemite-lovers, learn from two experts who have spent years leading photography excursions in the park, and share tips and techniques for producing frame-worthy images of this remarkable landscape. Start your weekend with a Tuesday evening social, and then grab your camera to spend the next three days learning about locations, lighting, composition and more.


Included with your registration:

  • Three full days of guided outdoor photography workshops (Wednesday, May 16 to Friday, May 18), plus an introductory indoor evening session (5 pm on Tuesday, May 15)
  • Park entry (as needed)
  • Four nights of shared camping (as needed, arriving May 15 and departing May 19) at Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley.
  • There is no discount if you choose not to use our gate pass or campsites.
  • Note: Information about upgrading your accommodations to stay at Yosemite Valley Lodge will be emailed to you after you sign up. The option to upgrade expires 45 days before the program.

Dave Wyman

Dave Wyman is an accomplished photographer and author of three pictorial guidebooks (“Backroads of Northern California”, “Backroads of Southern California”, and “Yosemite in Photographs”). His photographs and articles have appeared in Outdoor Photographer, Outside, Backpacker, Sky and Telescope, and many other publications. He is an experienced guide, leading tours for environmental organizations and museums, in addition to photography tours and workshops through his company, Image Quest. He enjoys sharing his passion for photography and the outdoors.

Ken Rockwell

Ken Rockwell has been photographing since he was five years old. He became serious by age 11, by which time he was already an accomplished and published aerial photographer. Today, as one of the world's most recognized photographic artists, Ken has won first and grand prizes in numerous competitions and juried exhibitions, including one at the Gallery at 777 in Los Angeles and another at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Ken is best known as the world's largest independent source of photography information, with as many as 5 million visitors to his free website, KenRockwell.com. Ken has been visiting Yosemite since 1987, and teaching here since 2006.
