Yosemite Without a Car

Yosemite Without a Car

Experience a car-free exploration of Yosemite with an expert naturalist guide
June 8, 2019 to June 9, 2019

Find out how easy it is to go car-free in Yosemite! From taking public transit into the park, to using shuttles and bikes to get around the Valley, there are plenty of simple ways to experience Yosemite that avoid the time and hassle of navigating traffic and finding places to park.

On this fun weekend adventure, you’ll join a naturalist guide and fellow park fans for two days of exploration in the Valley — all without personal vehicles. Spend a day on the Valley Loop Trail, where you can leave the rumble of roads behind, as you hike by towering trees, beside granite cliffs and along snowmelt-fed creeks. Discover car-free itineraries that let you immerse in different corners of the park without worrying about parking lots — such as taking a stroll to Mirror Lake before a Happy Isles art workshop, or hiking along the base of El Capitan and checking out the nearby Ask a Climber program.

Throughout the weekend, you’ll take advantage of free hybrid shuttles to move around the Valley, and spend time learning about the natural and cultural history of your surroundings, rather than rushing from point to point. Enjoy the slower pace of an emission-free experience — and use what you learn to plan your next car-free trip!

We strongly encourage participants to take Amtrak and/or Yosemite Area Regional Transportation (YARTS) to the park, if possible.

Included with your registration:

  • Two full days of learning from park experts (Saturday, June 8, morning, through Sunday, June 9, ending around 3 pm).
