The Ahwahnee, an Iconic Venue

Yosemite Conservancy staff member Jaime Henion recommends The Ahwahnee Hotel.

As an event planner it’s been a dream to use The Ahwahnee as a venue for elegant cocktail parties, dinners and brunch events. Every season displays a new element of beauty to behold through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows in the Solarium and Dining Room. In spring, you can see deer nibbling on grass behind the hotel in the fields; and in winter, a soft dusting of snow creates the perfect cozy atmosphere. All of this beauty is amplified by the surrounding views of the famous Yosemite icons Glacier Point and Half Dome.

Yosemite holds a special place in my heart and having the opportunity to introduce others to the magic and history of The Ahwahnee has been incredibly gratifying. Events held in this iconic gem are truly magical and unmatched!

Get Started: When not hosting events, my favorite spot to relax and soak in the stunning views is on the back patio at The Ahwahnee. Outdoor seating is available first-come, first served on the back patio and you can order from a full menu of food and cocktail options. If you find yourself at this fantastic spot, try the “El Capitini”, The Ahwahnee's famous specialty cocktail created to commemorate the first ascent up El Capitan by Warren Harding.

If the weather is chilly, the fireplaces throughout the various lounges in the hotel offer the perfect respite from the cold. The ambience is ideal for spending an afternoon curled up with a book and a cup of hot cocoa.

Tips: If you do decide to check out The Ahwahnee's Dining Room, make sure to leave the casual attire behind. Dinner dress code requests no shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, flip-flops, or baseball caps. Breakfast, brunch and lunch dress code are casual in the Dining Room as well as at all times in the Bar.
