Connect the Class of 2016 to Yosemite - 2015

Environmental-education programs in Yosemite’s gateway communities inspire youth.

Using the anniversaries of Yosemite National Park and the National Park Service as a framework, this initiative brought environmental-education programs to schools in Yosemite’s gateway communities to inspire the next generation of park stewards. With your support in 2015, the third year of this four-year effort, thousands of students from all grades participated in ranger-led education programs, attended special events, including the park’s 125th anniversary celebration,  and learned about the value of environmental stewardship.

Your gift helped Yosemite continue to build strong relationships with local schools and communities while engaging a new generation of park visitors in the legacy of preserving public lands.

Completed in partnership with Yosemite National Park, NatureBridge and additional Yosemite gateway youth programs.

Project Notes
Environmental-education programs in Yosemite’s gateway communities inspire youth.

Programming is broken into specific emphasis areas: Kindergarten - 12 Grade; accessibility programming for youth with physical challenges; and Youth In Yosemite programming. The reach of this initiative is expanded by engaging underserved audiences—such as youth with physical challenges. Through this delivery, Yosemite National Park is leading the way service-wide by serving as a model for program implementation.
