Create Young Leaders through the Yosemite Leadership Program (YLP) - 2015

Yosemite rangers inspire young leaders through summer internships.

The Yosemite Leadership Program (YLP) summer internship provides opportunities for culturally diverse college students to gain valuable firsthand experience in public lands careers while working alongside experts in Yosemite National Park.

With your support in 2015, each of the 15 YLP students completed a 12-week summer internship in Yosemite, where they were exposed to a range of learning and leadership opportunities through practical, field-based experiences with the National Park Service and other park partners. In addition to completing projects related to their internship areas, which they presented during a summer symposium in Yosemite Valley, the YLP students completed stewardship projects and served as mentors for other Youth in Yosemite  participants.

Your support gave college students the chance to experience living and working in Yosemite, where they learned about park-protection issues and created legacies that will last long after their internships.

Completed in partnership with Yosemite National Park and University of California, Merced.
