Conquering Your Creative Fears: Mixed Media

Artist Trowzers Akimbo teaches vibrant acrylic technique in this Yosemite Conservancy art workshop.

Develop a deeper understanding of the color wheel in this acrylic workshop, led by Emmy Award–winning artist Trowzers Akimbo. With Yosemite as your inspiration, learn how to create clean color mixes and bring life to painted shadows. Explore the full range of color values to increase the drama and impact of your paintings.

Learn the techniques of the master artists, from short drawing exercises to develop your “eye” for detail, to “building” a plein air painting from the foundation up. Celebrate the end of summer in Yosemite with a day of learning, fun and creativity.

Registration: $10 per day per visitor; drop-ins also welcome, as space is available
Location: Yosemite Art Center; workshops are held outside, weather and medium permitting
Time: 9:45 am to 2 pm, Monday through Saturday. Please arrive at 9:30 am if you need to purchase supplies at the art center.
Materials: Supplies are not included. However, supplies are available for purchase at the Yosemite Art Center. All purchases benefit the park!

Trowzers Akimbo

Trowzers Akimbo grew up in Venice, Calif., and received his BFA from California Institute of the Arts (Chouinard Art Institute). Beyond fine art, he’s worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, animation director and CCO. His work has received numerous awards, including an Emmy and honorable mention in the Yosemite Renaissance show.
